James' Father, Michael always wanted to do an everlasting tribute to James and wanted something that would help him to deal with his grief from losing James so he decided to write a book about a Father's experience of losing an only child. When James died, Michael struggled to find books written by Father's so decided to write his own and to donate all proceeds to charity.

The book gives a poignant account of his grief and how he dealt with the tragedy that tore his world apart. He feels that if the book can help just one family to cope with such an ordeal then it has achieved it's goal.

The book is called 'Losing James – A Father Cries Too' by Michael Bollom ISBN number 978-1-905178-38-4

Gloria Hunniford kindly wrote about the book – "Very often the loss of a child and the black hole that it creates in family life, is explained and viewed from a mother's perspective. Hearing the deep emotion of a father's loss, and particularly the way Michael has bared his soul, gives huge insight and understanding in an area which is often not talked about openly."

The book is priced at £12.50 including postage and packing to mainland UK – to order a copy please click the BUY NOW button (above).

The chosen charity is Holding On, Letting Go, a Kent based charity operated from Demelza Childrens Hospice. Holding On, Letting Go offers support, advice and guidance to families, professionals and anyone concerned about the needs of grieving children.

Every year, about 1.2 million people die in traffic accidents. One third of these victims are young people under the age of 25. For 15 to 19-year olds, it is the leading cause of death. Speeding drivers cause a huge number of these deaths and until you are affected by a death of a loved one in this way, you probably do not take any notice of flowers on the roadside or tributes attached to lamp posts where someone has died. Once you have lost someone in a road traffic accident, you will notice every tribute that you pass and it will bring back awful memories of the day you lost your loved one.

In 2010, Michael was asked to take part in a road safety campaign by Kent Police highlighting the dangers of driving at speed. This campaign was in the form of a 30 second TV advert which was aimed to hit home how speeding drivers can wreck families. Click on the link below to view the advert:

We thought of you with love today
but that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday
and days before that too.

We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
All we have are memories
and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is our keepsake
with which we'll never part
God has you in His keeping
We have you in our heart
